Ep.37: The One Question that Can Make Everything Easier

We’re keeping it simple….There is one question that can make everything easier. This is it.

Okay, we're trying something new for this podcast. And the way I'm actually recording this is very much in line with the topic I want to discuss today. Which is the number one question that I've been asking myself lately that has really changed the game for me in terms of how I show up everywhere. At my job, in my business, when I'm coaching, as a parent. in just my life with my friends, my family, all of it. So the question is, and I credit my coach for instilling this in me, although I will say I've had definitely had other coaches and therapists and other people of note and influence in my life that know me give me this guidance before, and I've sort of ignored it.

So I think this is also an example of when the student is ready, the teacher appears, because I'm now finally hearing it. But But the question is, wherever I am, whatever situation I'm in, whether I'm doing a project for my business, whether I'm coaching a client through something more complicated than normal, whether I'm creating a course, whether I'm trying to get out the door in the morning, whatever it is, the question is, how can I let this be easy? How can this be easy? that's the question and it seems like this simple question and sometimes it seems like a stupid question honestly because you know you're in the middle of something very chaotic or something very complicated or something that you've always understood in your life to be complicated and your thoughts are, “This can't be easy, this is hard, i'm going through something hard,” or “I'm going through something difficult or challenging”.

Like nobody thinks, “Divorce is easy”. I'm not going through a divorce, but I'm saying that's an example for somebody. Nobody thinks handling insurance after a fender bender is easy. Nobody thinks Creating a course to sell online or making a shit ton of money in your coaching business is easy. People might say, like, getting a job, especially right now in this moment that we're in, this economic moment that we're in, is not easy. Parenting, not easy. Whatever it is.

But what I'm saying is, ask yourself the question anyway and see what comes up. And here's why this matters. Because your brain and my brain and everyone who has a functioning human brain, Brains are set up and designed to solve problems. That's what our brains want to do. And so the goal here is give your brain a good problem to solve. Like give it something useful to solve.

Like for example, I'm applying this right now. I have this money mindset course that I've been trying to get out to sell forever. And by that I mean a couple of months. But I created it a couple of months ago. I've been talking about it to clients. I've been mentioning it in my newsletter and on my social media. want to get this thing done and out because it's like an A to Z. Every single thing that I have learned, every lesson, every tool, every word of wisdom, everything I've learned about money mindset in the seven plus years since I started getting coaching on my own money mindset and then started coaching other people on it. All of this money mindset work has fully transformed to not only my relationship with money, but my actual money, right? So I have a lot more money now, and I have a lot more confidence around money. There's a lot that I go into in the course about the results of actually utilizing money mindset tools to change your results with money. And I've stacked everything in here. This is like chock full, and I cannot get myself to get this course finished. It's as simple as that. so big and so robust and there's so much in there. I am really struggling to finish up all the slides to make sure that there's enough content and are the worksheets helpful enough and I probably need more worksheets because there's so much that I would suggest doing if you're going to go through this course and I need to do the recordings and I started selling one -on -one options at a very reduced price to go through the course with clients. so that I could sort of get feedback on it and see how people are receiving it. But even that hasn't made the process of actually getting the full course out to people easier. It hasn't gotten me to finish the course in a way that's easier. And I don't know why. And I'm roadblocked on this. And I just keep thinking to myself, how can I make this easier? I'm struggling to find time right now to sit down and properly record podcast episodes, sit down and properly record voiceovers for the course that would go with the slides that I created, blah, blah, blah.

I'm like, OK. Or I could just do this differently. What if I just hopped on my phone and did a voice memo, and that was my podcast for today. What if I just hopped on my phone when I have a chance, when I'm driving somewhere, running errands, as long as I'm being safe, of course? Why can't I just utilize my phone to try and record things and then use that as part of the voiceover that I need to get the course out the door? Maybe the course doesn't need to be so robust. Maybe people don't even want that. I'm getting some interesting feedback in the clients who I'm walking through it with right now. seven years of knowledge into one big course maybe isn't what people want or need or can digest all at once. Maybe it's better to chop it up into pieces and just sell smaller pieces of the course that are themed and that are useful and helpful, but not as massive and not as complicated to understand and get your head around. digest.

So I started having all of these ideas about how to make the course easier because I asked my brain, how can this be easy? And now I'm doing this right now with this podcast. As I am recording this, you can probably hear there's a big difference. Not that my audio has ever been super because I've never like, really focused that much on the tech side of my podcast. I was definitely and still am way more focused on the content. But I realized like, I haven't gotten a podcast out in a while, because I can't find the time I want to like, make it sound better and look better. And what's this gonna I don't even know. And I'm like, way overthinking it in my head, and can't get myself there. And so I was like, Okay, what if I just record this episode, on a voice memo on my phone while I am in my car doing errands and parked in a parking lot and doing all those things when I'm out and about. Why don't I just record this and then I'll just edit it the best I can. And as long as you can hear what I'm saying, who cares if it doesn't sound like I'm like Dax Shepard in his armchair studio. That's not the point, because I'm not Dax Shepard in my armchair studio. I am like a busy working business owning mom who has a lot of stuff going on in her life. And I also have a lot of coaching knowledge that I want to share with people that are interested in it. So how can we make this all work? How can I let this be easy?

So I'm going to leave you there with that question and see if it's something that might help you as you move through your day. Whatever it is that's going on that might seem complicated or messy or overwhelming, just ask yourself, how can I let this be easy? Your brain's at first probably going to say, it can't be. And then you're going to say, okay, I know, but if it could, what might that look like? Just start there. Assume it can be easy. Assume that your brain will find a solution. And just keep asking yourself, if it was easy, what could that be? I know, but... okay, maybe it isn't easy, but let's just pretend for a minute that it could be. What could that look like? You'll be amazed by the answers that your brain will serve up to you.

If you get any interesting hits, I would love to hear about them. Find me on Instagram, or you can leave me a comment on this pod. I hope to hear from you guys soon, and I hope shit is easy for you today. Catch you on the next one.
